Students

As students, YOU are at the centre of the proposed Academies' developments. The sponsors – the University of Brighton, BT and East Sussex County Council - want to make learning an enjoyable and fulfilling experience for everyone. The sponsors want the Academies to be the kind of school where you can make the most of your talents and abilities. To do this, the Academies will:

  • Ensure there is no disruption in your education when students from Filsham Valley and The Grove schools join together to form The St Leonards Academy
  • Help you to think about and set your own learning goals and support your individual learning needs so you can succeed
  • Offer you interesting and new ways of teaching and learning with committed, motivated staff who also have to keep up their learning about how to be the best possible teacher
  • Offer you state-of-the art facilities and technology that inspire you to work hard and achieve your goals in learning
  • Provide you with a wide choice of courses and subjects, including specialisms in ICT, English and Mathematics, that will help you in your future training and employment
  • Offer a safe, healthy and nurturing school environment with high expectations of behaviour and attendance
  • Encourage you to take a pride in your learning and your new Academy
  • Support you to become accomplished and respectful adults who can make a positive contribution to your community
  • Through our sponsors, the University of Brighton, and links with local businesses and educational establishments such as Sussex Coast College, offer you wider opportunities and provide links to further and higher education, training and employment
  • Ensure you, your family and your community benefit from the Academies’ facilities and lifelong learning opportunities.
